here’s a nifty little trick to hide those google ads when you are searching. simply go here. The trick is that it appends the search url with output=googleabout which for whatever reason doesnt show the ads.

The video plug-in made by fix8.com is one that is truly fun and easy to use. I was able to get it installed on my windows xp machine very quickly. Just had to register with their site and download the install file and I was ready to go.

Setting up the facial recognition was as simple as just centering my face in the video window and clicking on the capture button. Once that was done, I chose an avatar and began to play away.

It was simply amazing as there is no rendering time. Its all done in real-time so whatever you do with your face or say your avatar will mimic it in real-time!

What’s even better is that it easily works with almost all instant messaging services, such as AIM, SKYPE, MSN, and YAHOO. I was able to only test on AIM and SKYPE but it did work. I was able to chat with friends and they were able to see my avatar keep in step with almost all of my movements.

When using the plug-in, you want to make sure that you don’t move away from the webcam, because if you do, the avatar will just sit there. What would be great is if there was a way to put it in “away mode” when you are off camera. For instance my alien avatar could look like he’s sleeping and drooling so that it will let other users know that I’m away, instead of just staring at you.

Other than that, this is a fun video plug-in for those days when you don’t want to be on camera or you just don’t want to wash your face. Your friends don’t need a webcam to see your video stream and you can also just use it to record yourself doing whatever your imagination desire and post it up on your blog, xanga, myspace, youtube or revver.
