this post goes out to my bro joe…who is now back in korea doing the pottery thing. You can check out his awesome work at clayative.net and his blog, although he doesnt post that often, kinda like me. I didn’t get a chance to write about this, but I had been pondering it for quite some time now, especially when he came into town. He’s pretty much living out his dream, which was to become really great at ceramics/pottery, so he took the ballsiest move, and trekked on out to seoul, korea and enrolled himself into a great university. Now here’s where respect comes in. I lived in korea for about 3 months or so, and my korean isn’t too bad but still…it was very trying to do everything in korean. he didn’t let a language barrier get in the way, leaving friends and family behind or anything else…some might say it was selfish. i say it was something he had to do, good or bad, because when it comes down to it, fulfilling your dreams is a very selfish act. when i originally started up my co, it was because of selfish reasons, mainly that i didnt want to take orders from anyone and be able to have total control and create something from scratch. yeah, i could have gotten a job and have this awesome career now, a house and the whole 9, but i know I would have been miserable as shit. i thought that i had given up a lot when i made the decision to do this, but after talking with joe, it wasn’t much…what is money anyways?

not having your friends or family and living in a strange land while being stressed out like a mo-fo is truly giving up a lot. missing out on fun stuff like just hanging out with friends, birthday parties, and what not….gotta suck…but in the end, if your dream comes true, i’d like to think that it would make it all worth it.

even though i dont have any regrets, or try not to have any regrets, there are times when i catch myself playing the what if game. i see where i could have been vs where i am now, and its a bit disconcerting. but i wouldnt trade it for the world.  because i know that i would be miserable.

so bro…live it up in korea fulfilling your dream…we’ll be here trying to fulfill ours.

and keep the floor warm because i’ll be heading out your way this year…so build up that blackbook! haha
