Use of Web 2.0 in Internet Marketing Efforts

Based on the recent survey by marketing professionals in MarketTools’ Zoomerang division carried out in early November among 400 Internet marketers from US, it is clear that the concept of web 2.0 is still relatively new.
This survey also reveals that the early adopters of web 2.0 applications are getting positive results from their marketing effort. More than 79% of the marketers involved in this survey are not familiar with the phrase web 2.0 and still more Internet marketers are expected to implement it as one of the tools in their marketing effort.
And the rest of the 21% marketers interviewed, i.e. only 33% of the group, are actually implementing it, with some of the examples including blogging, podcasting and using social networking websites like Myspace and Friendster as their marketing tools. What makes web 2.0 different from its predecessor is, instead of focusing on just publishing contents alone, web 2.0 cater to the most simple human urge to create, share and connect.
Although web 2.0 is seen as a popular way to get your brand name out, it’s definitely not just a hype that will die out anytime soon. Given the high success rate of web 2.0 based applications, it’s almost certain that any corporation or individual who use it in their marketing effort, will emerge as the next Youtube or Flickr.
What matters most, if you wish to be among the savvy and successful marketers who implement web 2.0 strategies, is to encourage participation from your potential customers. Just let them do the majority of the talking.
