Enough is enough! All of these articles about someone stealing a computer or laptop that contains sensitive info or customer info is getting ridiculous. C|Net is reporting that a small bank in California was robbed and a desktop computer was stolen that contained 3,600 customer info including social security numbers.

Aside from data encryption tools, which would work if people knew how to use them or remembered to use them, is really the first step.

What happens if the computer is stolen?

Here’s my solution. There should be a special peripheral developed that is attached to the computer’s power supply and another part of the computer like the network adapter for computers that will be used for housing these types of sensitive info. Since these computers are likely to have a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) and have back up generators, the power is virtually guaranteed to be on 100% of the time. What this peripheral will do is automatically erase or destroy the harddrive when the power is interrupted and there is no data exchange with through the lan.

Amazon…watch out! Google is gunning for you…at least for your products listed by customers that want to sell their own stuff alongside your listings.

InsideGoogle
has a the patent filing for the Google Automat where it will automatically create a google ad for you when you provide the product that you want to sell.

It’s not a far fetch from getting people accustomed to this and then begin to allow taking sales once their google payment system is completed. Google can then charge a commission, processing costs as well the listing fees. I shall call this the e-commerce tri-fecta!

This would be interesting to see if it does come to fruition.

Amazon.com is working on the ability to sell the pages they have scanned so that you can purchase only what you need for a few cents a page.

I’d imagine that although on a cost per page basis, this will be very interesting to do. For the most part, this would mean being able to buy only the pags or chapters that are relevant to you. I know from experience that this will come in handy. Being able to download the pages I need and create my own frankenbook would be awesome. Why you say? I personally tend to create my own frankenbooks by splicing technical books, business books and sometimes even cookbooks to have something that will be handy to me. Why such a jumbalya of topics? Simple. It usually pertains to a specific projet that I’m working on at the time. Of course because I don’t want to fully ruin my book, I actually photocopy the needed pages and then slap them together and put them into a binder.

If Amazon does this, the greatest thing for them to do is to make the text searchable, like a searchable pdf. The reason being, I would love to create my own digital frankenbook and be able to search them so that I can find topics or recipes or whatever it is that I need to reference.

Keep your fingers crossed. And let the frankenbooks live!

Do I sell?

Now that some of the projects that I have been working on seem to be bearing some fruit, I am currently thinking about selling Paper Street Teas. This isn’t official just yet, but I am toying with the idea. Paper Street has been great and everyone has been awesome from our team to our customers, but some recent events has made this idea more tantalizing.

It is quite disconcerting to read so many articles that say that videogames is the cause of violence. That games like Grand Theft Auto, World of Warcraft, and others are are the reasons why there is such an increase in violence. It’s not only videogames that are the cause of all of this. It’s also cell phones, computers, pagers, iPods, RFID tags, tv, the internet, and even shoes.

What’s interesting to note is how soon people forget the previous supposed causes of violence.

Videogames is just the violence flavor of the moment, especially Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

But if anyone recalls, there were loads of other things to blame for the increase in violence.

When I was growing up, the biggest reason for violence was shoes. Yes, shoes. More specifically it was the latest Nike Air Jordans or pumps. Kids actually got killed for these.

I finally got aroudn to watching some of the movies I have on my tivo. One of them was this movie. It stars Rachel Leigh Cook, so at least there’s some eye candy involved, because she’s cute! The basic premise of the movie is that you have a rich kid that screws up, gets sent to the army instead of jail, meets this schizo actress in the hospital, and they fall in love. That’s pretty much the gist.

The movie itself is kind of slow, but being in a love movie kind of mood lately, it was good to watch them pretty much ignore what others kept saying about not being together. Typical love stuff.

The fun parts of the movie are when the guy gets sent to the military and his CO, played by Val Kilmer, finds out that he’s not a regular sign up, but someone that was forced there, and begins to punish him. Pretty funny stuff.

Man….time to get a g/f. seriously.

Have you been podcasting lately? Or listening to podcasts?

I recently began listening to the suicide girls radio. It’s pretty entertaining and the girls sound berry sessy. Bee and Missy. It’s defiintely not for the faint of heart, but they do have great voices. Very soothing. Makes me want to go and jump them bones.

If you’re in the need for something different, check them out.
