Frankenbooks at a shelf near you
Do I sell? haha
Nov 08

Amazon.com is working on the ability to sell the pages they have scanned so that you can purchase only what you need for a few cents a page.

I’d imagine that although on a cost per page basis, this will be very interesting to do. For the most part, this would mean being able to buy only the pags or chapters that are relevant to you. I know from experience that this will come in handy. Being able to download the pages I need and create my own frankenbook would be awesome. Why you say? I personally tend to create my own frankenbooks by splicing technical books, business books and sometimes even cookbooks to have something that will be handy to me. Why such a jumbalya of topics? Simple. It usually pertains to a specific projet that I’m working on at the time. Of course because I don’t want to fully ruin my book, I actually photocopy the needed pages and then slap them together and put them into a binder.

If Amazon does this, the greatest thing for them to do is to make the text searchable, like a searchable pdf. The reason being, I would love to create my own digital frankenbook and be able to search them so that I can find topics or recipes or whatever it is that I need to reference.

Keep your fingers crossed. And let the frankenbooks live!
