Now that some of the projects that I have been working on seem to be bearing some fruit, I am currently thinking about selling Paper Street Teas. This isn’t official just yet, but I am toying with the idea. Paper Street has been great and everyone has been awesome from our team to our customers, but some recent events has made this idea more tantalizing.

The ideal situation would be for a company like Adagio to buy us out and keep the Paper Street Teas brand alive, much like Starbucks did with Seattles Best. The most interesting thing is that there seems to be a potential synergy with our brands, because most of our customers that know Adagio, consider them to be for the more experienced tea drinker, whereas they consider Paper Street Teas to be for the average tea drinker.

I think this has to do with the perception of how we have marketed out two brands. Even we consider Adagio to be the gold standard for selling loose teas online, and they are doing a great job at it. With their brand name, it just sounds more fancy and for the more experienced tea drinker, even though they have some great starter kits and great info on their site. Our brand name evokes certain emotions especially to the twenty something crowd because of our name. Most people get the name and others just like the name because it’s simple and is reminiscent of local shop or corner store.

I definitely don’t want to see Paper Street Teas die out, and would love for it to be part of the Adagio company.

I’m not sure what I really want to do at this point. I know that the team understands this and I love them for that.

It’s a pretty difficult decision at this point. I wish Adagio would just step in and do the ideal scenario. =D
