It’s been a while since I’ve updated and after this post, it will be a while longer, until I can get my act together. Here’s a quick rundown.
Sunday night. Laptop got very slow. I mean crawling. Any of you that know me, knows that my laptop is pretty much my life. I have everything on there. Business stuff. Personal stuff. And of course pictures. All of my pictures. Especially from Europe and Korea and my brothers wedding.
Monday morning. Laptop is officially dead. Tried to recover everything using Norton Ghost. Doesn’t work. Began to reinstall windows. Left for work.
Monday night. Error. Unable to find some crap. Tried to reinstall windows again. Full format. Took 4 hours to format an 80gb drive. No good.
Tuesday morning. Format complete. Tried to recover again. No dice.
Tuesday afternoon. Left work early. Began tedious process of formatting again, this time installing windows and trying to recover from there hoping to get the data structures up. 4 hours later. Kind of worked. Found a good copy of the norton ghost image in the recycle bin of my external hard drive. Thank goodness for that! Pulled necessary data, like outlook files, images and biz docs. Dumped onto secondary machine. Rebooted laptop. Received this great message upon restart. “imminent hard disk failure. back up your info and replace hard drive. Press F1 to continue.” I press F1…10 minutes later. Still nothing. Hard drive basically died.
Wednesday. Dammit! Dammit! Took the laptop to bestbuy for repairs. Won’t have it back for a few weeks. Gave them a laundry list of crap to replace, hard drive, screen, speakers, heat sink, fans, and the dvd drive. Hopefully they replace all of those things and it will be like getting a brand new laptop. But dang, 3 weeks without my laptop.
Since the only real machine I’ll have to work off of is my work comp, posts will be few and far between.
Peace out!

There is a lot of news about how Microsoft had this memo going around 10 years ago that stipulates the biggest single threat to Microsoft was the internet. Now today that threat has a name. Thy name is Google. Now that Google is beginning to get onto the desktop and buying all of that dark fiber as well as creating some great applications that are web based such as their gmail, maps, and soon perhaps applications, Microsft is now really shaking in their boots.
Has Google now become evil? The biggest speculation is if they will be offering free wifi and display location based ads. I don’t want to get into too much, but I wouldn’t be suprised to see people calling Google evil because most users will use their free wi-fi service, gmail, regular search, their Google Talk, satellite imaging, Google TV, and of course Google Apps.
Microsoft may then become the underdog for a change. Who knows? All I know is that I’d like to see Yahoo buy a network and really develop out their content and distributions as well as possibly even buy Imagine Entertainment or Dreamworks SKG.
That would help Yahoo! get into some areas that will help them grow and get future revenues. Because not everything that can make money needs to be on the web. What would be ideal is for Yahoo! to buy a cable company and help get all of those great content online.
Whatever. Google. I still love thee.

It’s been a bit since I actually updated anything. So here’s a quickie.
My brother got married on Sunday. From what I hear it was pretty good. Why is it that I hear that it was pretty good? Well, let’s just say that I barely got a chance to sit down. For some reason, I had a lot of crap to do, which kept me pretty busy, plus the fact that the guests kept asking me for stuff, like when is the dinner served, when will the cake thing happen, etc. All I could tell them was that it would happen soon, but I really didn’t know. I mean it wasn’t up to me, all of the stuff just happened. Funny thing was,, why did they keep asking me? That was funny. It was pretty awesome though, I’m glad that it’s over, as I’m sure most everyone involved. A few things before you ask…no I did not hook up with any bridesmaids. It would have been awesome, but I barely had any time to talk to any of them. I tried…believe me. But each time I went over to the table where they were, I’d get pulled away by my brothers friends to get a drink or to muck me up. Oh well… I’ll see them again. One of these days. And yeah, some of them were cute. =)
