TiVo on the rise
TiVo has announced that they got into the black last quarter and made $249,000. Not too shabby considering they lost $10.8 million in the same quarter last year. But it seems like they are finally coming up, granted they are still on the track to lose $25 to 28 million this year, but that’s nothing for the company that gave us the digital video recorder. Look at the other companies that came into this foray, like ReplayTv. What happened to those guys? And most everyone is copying TiVo.
With TiVo beta testing their new download service, it could mean some extra monies for them as they try and go for the pay-per-download model. The only qualm I have about this is that my digital cable service has this and its called on-demand, where I can watch any movie for 24 hours and play, pause, rewind, do all that good stuff. But regardless, its a good sign for TiVo. I always liked them. I just hate their subscription fees.
Should you buy their stock? If you are daring enough, then go for it, but I’d hold off just yet.
