Microsoft just signed a major movie deal with Universal and Twentieth Century Fox to develop and distribute Halo, the movie. I remember when I first heard about this deal, I laughed my ass off because of the $5 million price tag they wanted for the rights to the film plus some backend. But they did it. There is no real date on when the movie will be developed yet alone released, but there are speculations that the movie will come out when Halo 3 comes out.

Of course Halo 3 will be coming out after the launch of the new Xbox 360, which will itself be released sometime this year or early next year. There has already been many ‘leaks’ of not only the product specs but accessories as well.

As much as I love the Halo series and the ingame cinematics, not sure if I like the idea of it being made into a movie. But then again I can be wrong. I have been known to be wrong before. The success of hte movie will really depend on how well the story is as well as who the lead character will be. Just like the movie Riddick, which I thought was pretty good and the game itself was actually fun to play, albeit pretty short. We’ll see how well Micrsoft’s foray into movies does. I wouldn’t be surprised if it does well, then Yahoo! and Google would make their way into the movie business. I see Yahoo! doing this because of their CEO Terry Semel, who’s daughter is pretty…ugly. But I can definitely seem them doing something with and in the movie industry.

Anyhow, let the games begin!
