Lately I’ve been tinkering with the idea of getting back onto the digital tv service bandwagon. But I have been having some problems actually deciding on what type of digital service. Do I want to go digital cable or digital satellite?

There are plenty of pros and cons for each. They both offer a tivo like set top box so that you can record shows and of course pause and rewind live tv. This in itself is a really great thing. I forgot just how great this type of technology was until I used my friends and we able to just hang out and pause the tv to get some food.

The costs for digital cable and the satellite service are roughly the same, especially when you add the premium channels and extra boxes. Granted digital satellite does offer more movie channels it does sound like a better option, but thne digital cable has the On Demand network which allows you to watch shows and movies whenever you want. This in itself is worth getting the cable service.

Not sure if satellite gives this option but it is something worth exploring.

All of this plus being able to record my favorite tv shows and movies would really make my life that more accessible. Or should I say that much more couch potato-ish. But at least this way it can be done in big spurts as opposed to just watching tv when the show is actually on.

Ahh, technology. Sometimes it does make life better.
