TiVo has announced that they got into the black last quarter and made $249,000. Not too shabby considering they lost $10.8 million in the same quarter last year. But it seems like they are finally coming up, granted they are still on the track to lose $25 to 28 million this year, but that’s nothing for the company that gave us the digital video recorder. Look at the other companies that came into this foray, like ReplayTv. What happened to those guys? And most everyone is copying TiVo.

The offer for my new job finally came in today. It had me on my toes as I thought they changed their minds because I had been expecting it on Monday. But it came today, and I am very excited. This job definitely seems like fun and I hope that I am up to the task at hand. I can’t divulge the name of the company just yet but it is another internet company and I’ll be heading their affiliate program. It’s definitely an exciting position and the company is pretty cool. The only downside is the commute. I love my current commute of 10 minutes, but this new commute will surely stress me out. But it will all be worth it. Especialy if it will help me buy a house.

But the pay is good, the company seems like a fun place to work and did I mention the pay was good? Aside from the pay though, the position itself is a step in the right direction in terms of my so called ‘career.’ I’ve been trying to get as far away from the tech grunt work as possible and this is definitely a HUGE step in the right direction. Aside of course, from my other endevours. I love tech gear, but I really hate fixing them and dealing with the problems that come with them. It was fun when I was younger, but I’ve come to realize that I really hate that stuff. Ask me about purchasing decisions, ask me about what’s cool, but don’t ask me to fix that crap.

That is all.

End of line.

Microsoft just signed a major movie deal with Universal and Twentieth Century Fox to develop and distribute Halo, the movie. I remember when I first heard about this deal, I laughed my ass off because of the $5 million price tag they wanted for the rights to the film plus some backend. But they did it. There is no real date on when the movie will be developed yet alone released, but there are speculations that the movie will come out when Halo 3 comes out.

Google Talk

Uncategorized No Comments »

As if Google doesn’t have their hands in a lot of stuff, they are now entering the chat and communication world. They just beta launched their Google Talk client, which works with your gmail account. Surprisingly it looks pretty sweet, but I dont’ know. I mean, I would love to get in on it, but…there’s something fishy about it.

Lately I have been thinking a lot about mortality, both my own and some close family members. I had always wondered how I would like to be remembered and what I’d like to do to remember those around me, and I remember i came across a company that makes a diamond out of you. Since diamonds are really just highly compressed carbon and yourself is really just carbon as well, it makes sense that under high pressures you can create a diamond out of your ashes. The company that does this is called LifeGem. The prices seem ok, but really, isn’t it priceless to get your loved one turned into a diamond? Plus it’s like the gift that keeps on giving, because if I got turned into a diamond, then my kids can give their special someone me as an engagement ring. Talk about family heirloom!

I recently got a chance to check out some really cute stuff, like dolls, pillows, cups, the whole deal. It’s these 12 characters called Fulanitos that have caught my eye and I recently got a chance to talk with them about possibly selling their products.

The power of blogs and the money it can make is really amazing. I just read a quick blog entry that said that engadget is on the way to make $1 million in google adsense ads alone this year. What really piqued my interest was that engadget has 5 to 6 google ads running which I had thought broke the terms of service but then there is a special section regarding premium sites where these things are done reviewed on a site by site basis. This totally makes sense. It also shows that the power of blogs is really amazing, especially from a financial stand point.
