It’s been getting really hot lately. Yesterday hit over 100.

At least its a dry heat and not humid. I would die if there was a bit of humidity in the air. I like the good ole smog. It’s gotten so thick lately that I can’t even see the mountains behind my house.

Layer Cake

Uncategorized No Comments »

There’s something intriguing about the world of drugs and the brits. I don’t know what it is, but what I do know is this movie is a MUST WATCH!

The story line is really riveting and follows one mans quest to retire out of the drug trade. But, as usual, there is a hitch. He must do one final job before the underworld lets him out. Don’t even think about watching this movie loaded because you want to remember some parts of the film. There are some twists and turns that really show what the meaning of business is. In the vain of The Godfather, “it’s not personal, it’s business.”

If you need some entertainment that isn’t the usual popcorn fluff, watch this!

In the world of business it’s important to never give up. Unless of course when you go through all of hte numbers and growth projections, it makes sense to close up shop. Earlier this year, this is what seemed to be happening. Going through the numbers and growth projections it seemed like the only way to really make money was to close up shop.

Funny thing about numbers.

They change!

Now the numbers tell a different story. It says to stay in business and keep growing as aggressively as possible. So now we’re in a sort of conundrum. I’ve recently made plans to move to China and get started on some projects that have been sitting on the back burner. Instead of moving out there, it actually looks like I’ll be taking a sabbatical and just get the these projects off the ground.

When starting a new business, things never go as planned. This is why it’s good to be flexible and able to stomach the ups and downs. These past few months have realy been a roller coaster ride for us her and now things seem to be looking up for the rest of the year. We will working on growing our company and expanding as quickly as possible.

Aside from business, now I just have to figure out what direction I want to take this blog towards. I still write about tech and electronics, since I love that stuff, but there’s more to life than toys. At least that’s what I’ve been told. So I’ll again be experimenting with different directions.

Got an iPod? Need some speakers? With the hot weather lately, I’ve been hunting down some speakers. I checked out the BOSE(R) SoundDock Digital Music System and I must admit, although I was impressed, it left me lacking especially at the hefty price os $299. Main thing missing is the ability use the damn things with some other source other than an iPod and the ability to synch. Other than that, it worked great.

But because I’m a miser, I checked out some other speakers. I also checked out the JBL On Stage iPod Speakers. This one was really awesome actually, especially for the price. It allows me to synch and has other audio inputs and stuff, but again, something was missing in the sound. A weak bass line and honestly, putting it near the pool just didnt seem to do it any justice.

Frustrated, I decided to give the JBL Creature Speakers a shot. You know what? I’m pretty happy with them. At only $70 it’s definitely worth every single penny and then some.

If you’re looking for some speakers to entertain yourself during these hot summer days by the pool, then these are it!

C|Net has an interesting little article about time travel and how physicists are trying to understand if and how time travel would be possible.

The grandfather paradox comes into play. This is the idea that if you could travel back in time, you shouldn’t be able to kill your grandfather, thereby negating your existence. But if you never existed, how did you go back in time to kill your grandfather? And so on and so on. A simple thing they actually say is that you can go back, but then you’ll probably miss, so there is no problem.

But here’s my theory. You can totally travel back in time. Except it won’t be with the use of wormholes so that you can physcially travel back in time. That’d be too insane, and take too much power and force that it may ultimately rip your atoms apart. Yes, I said atoms. The only thing that you would be able to do is to actually view the past. Not sure how this can be done, but I’d imagine that it’d be with the aid of quantum computers and particle accelerators that can create mini black holes. The way this would look is that you would be able to dial into whatever point of time including the gps coordinates, and then it would be like watching a tv show, except you’d actually be watching past/future events. The only limiting factor is that you cannot go past the point when the universe collapses and the point of the Big Bang.

Viewing the past and the future would be possible only if my theory on time is correct. That is that time is not linear, but circular.

Circular time? YES! I said it! Time is circular. How does that work? The universe expands and will eventually collapse on itself. After it collapses on itself it will then explode causing the BIG BANG and then the whole thing starts again. With each new beginning, you’d be living the same life and of course you’d be able to make minor changes but nothing major. I beleive that’s why psychics work. They can actually see through the ripples of time. But thats a different subject.

The current problem with people thinking about time travel, is that they keep wanting to be able to physically interact with it. If this is possible, you would actually create an alternate universe, because any small interaction can have profound changes. Similar to the butterfly effect. But then this will actually blow out the circular time theory, so physical interactions just won’t work. Imagine if you went back in time and you did something small, like move someones keys. This can have a major impact, because what if because he took a second longer to find his keys, he is a second late to wherever he was going. This causes him to get into an accident which would have otherwise been avoided, and he gets hurt badly. He is then unable to meet the woman of his dreams and the future son that created something huge is never born. Extreme? Yes. Possible? Yes. So let’s get it straight people! No physical time travel! Stop dreaming!

So to all of the physicists out there, let’s get out of thinking how we can actually travel into the past, and let’s get a jump on how we can actually view the past.

podcasting

I love podcasting! What is a podcast? It’s essentially a recorded radio program for your mp3 player. You can find all the info you want online.

In my case, I love it because there are a lot of great shows out there for small businesses such as marketing programs.

You can find what you want by checking both iTunes 4.9 with their new podcast support as well as Podcast Directory.

Some of my favorites are:

Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code
This Week is Tech (this is the show the guys from the The Screen Savers!)
SBA Network
