NetFlix needs to get into gaming
Lately, NetFlix and Blockbuster have been getting a lot of ink. Mainly becuase of their pricing wars, but what really intrigues me is that instead of doing a pricing war, why not just offer something better? I have said this time and time again. I even went so far as to contact NetFlix and suggest this. Why not also offer games?
The ideal mix would be for NetFlix and GameFly to join forces so that they can offer their members both dvds and games for one low monthly price. Let’s face it, how many of us have both accounts? I personally have 3 accounts, one for NetFlix, 1 for GameFly and 1 for GreenCine for my indie fix. Now if all 3 merged I would be quite the happy camper, but i with the current market the way it is, this is really the only way to go. First off, why isn’t there anyone doing this? Why isn’t someone offering both? Seems to be such a simple idea really. If you are on the 3 dvd plan, and you have 1 game out, that counts as a dvd, so you can only get 2 more dvds or games. I wouldn’t be surprised if this actually is more profitable because people tend to play games longer so they generally return games less. When I am having my dvd fix, I can easily go through 10-12 in a month. But for videogames, I usually go through about 3 or 4 depending on how hard it is to beat.
So if you do the math, the games are more profitable because you are paying less postage fees. Simple. I know there are those power gamers that can blow through games like no ones business, but that is a very small percentage.
Get your head out your ass NetFlix! Hurry up and gobble up or partner up with GameFly! I would bet that Amazon.com is already thinking about doing this when they roll out their service. it just makes sense.

What happened?
Watching tonight’s Apprentice, I couldn’t help but ask, what happened to last year’s winner? Kelly Perdue, the army guy turned entrepreneur won last year’s competition and we haven’t heard from him since last year. Unlike Bill Rancic, the winner of the first Apprentice, who showed up in quite a few episodes to oversee some of the competitions as well as just got some face time and print time. Then I remembered I used to watch The Rebel Billionaire with Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson and the winner of that show got $1 million and 6 months to work with Sir Richard. The guy that won was the founder of Love Sac. Shawn something. (too lazy to go and look it up).
So what happened to these guys? Are they out there somewhere doing what they do best? Are their companies blowing up like you would think they would?
And what happened to Ivana? That asian VC from the 2nd Apprentice? What about those hot chick from the 1st season?
Someone should do a reality show about reality shows and hte aftermath…And not the Inquirer.
