Treo 650 price hike
Now that PalmOne has released their GSM and GSM unlocked versions of the wildly popular Treo 650, I am guessing they had to drop the ball somehow. And they did BIG time. The way they did it was by increasing the price of the unlocked version from $599 to $699. WTF? I am thinking that PalmOne wanted to increase their profits seeing how people were waiting to buy the damn thing. But what they probably didn’t count on was that this would really turn people off. Seriously, I know I was waiting to get it, if it weren’t for the lack of built in wifi, and better camera, but if I were really inclined to, I would have bought the thing for $599, but at $699, no freegin way. That’s a mental barrier for me. I mean I got a powerful ass Dell Axim x50v for less than that. Sure it doesn’t let me talk on the phone, but dang, with everything I can do with it really doesn’t matter. I have a great little cell phone that I got for $50. Total cost is still less than the Treo 650.
I don’t know what PalmOne was thinking. Other than the fact that there is probably someone out there that is wantonly sabotaging the company by turning fans of the Treo line to other possible solutions, like the HP hw line that is supposedly coming out soon.
Let’s wait and see what PalmOne will do.
