Shuffle up and play!
Do the shuffle! *doo doo doo doo doo* do the shuffle! Sounds great in my head to the “do the hustle” sound track.
Now that Steve and Co. has joined the flash player market with the iPod Shuffle, you might be asking yourself. Is it worth it?
Well…that all depends on what you want. If you already have an iPod and just want something to take to the gym without worrying then definitely. If you are new the mp3 player market, I would say hold off, unless you really want to join the Apple revolution.
Price alone, you can’t beat it. It’s a 1GB flash player for only $149. Cheaper than most other 1GB flash players out there, but there are other reasons why I wouldn’t get it.
First off. No display. This doesn’t bother most people as they tend to really just want to listen to their music and never look at the screen. For me, this can be problematic, as there are definitely times when I want to look at the screen to see what song is on, or scroll through and find a particular song I just have to listen to.
Secondly. No fm tuner. There are players out there like the Creative Muvo series that havea built in FM tuner. Why do I want an FM tuner? Because I want to be able to listen to some talk shows (Kevin and Bean) when I’m at the gym or wherever. And those times when I am tired of my mp3s. Then there is the whole tuning into the tvs at the gym so I can watch my CNN…ok. ok. You got me. I really need my dose of “The View” everyday or I just feel sick. ..You happy?!
Thirdly…well nothing third.
Fourthly. Snap cover? What year is this? Why don’t I like snap covers? Simple. Because I tend to lose the cover. I wonder why they didn’t make a swivel out usb plug. That would have ruled.
On the flipside.
The greatest thing that Apple did was incorporate a rechargeable battery, that can last for 12 hours between charges. This in itself can be worth it potentially saving you some money over a year’s usage. Steve says it can save you a $100s your first year. I dont know about hundreds, but definitely some good coinage.
What’s holding me back? Not really sure. Do I really want another flash player? Granted its an Apple flash player. Or do I hold out for a wee bit more and get an updated ipod mini or even a larger storage iPod photo?
So much waiting! I can’t stand it!
Bottom line. Not too shabby if you want to get a great designed player with Apple’s stamp of approval as well as access to their badass ITMS. Besides, $149 for a 1Gb aint too bad.
But if yer a storage and feature whore like me, then take a pass on this bad boy. But do put it onto your wishlist.
