Daily Clerks

Yet another decent episode of The Apprentice. This time, Bill Rancic, the winner from the first one took George’s place in overseeing the projects.

Last nights project was to try and get the highest score on the Zagat Survey for their restaurants. I really thought that the guys did a bang up job from the start. First they hired a cleaning crew to clean the place top to bottom then they just seemed to be really organized and spread out. It also looked like they were having fun with the customers. Raj did a fantastic job as project manager.

Whereas the women’s team just needed some more oomph. I must admit that their restaurant looked really great, but as Carolyn said, it wasn’t the place to put it, they didn’t look at the demographic enough. The project manager, Jen, I think that’s her name, didn’t seem to do anything. I don’t know if this was editing or what, it just seemed like she hoared over people and customers, not really contributing anything much. For instance there was a point where she was talking to these 2 customers, and she kept saying ‘great, great, hows the food, great, great’ and she stayed there looking at them for like 2 mins longer. If I were the customer I’d totally be like WTF, get out of here, we’re trying to eat! She also didn’t seem to do a bang up job spreading the women around. Ivana had the best idea which was to spread them all out whenver they clumped together.

Overall, Bill said it best in the boardroom. This is not a game. There’s no point in making alliances because most likely you will be fired. And that’s what happened. I loved how Jen chose Elizabeth and Stacie R. to the boardroom. The 2 people she disliked the most. Instead of her friend that failed the biggest, the decorator.

So there you have it. Last nights episode seemed to lack some of the drama from last years shows. I wonder if there is a new editor or soemthing. Also, it was easy to tell that the women would lose, b/c they kept showing only the women in action, i don’t know about you, but this seems to be a clue.

I am glad to see that the men are winning more often and not getting clobbered by the women like last years as well.

And I think I’ve found my favorite girl that I will cheer for throughout the show. Her name….Elizabeth!

Why here you ask? Well, she’s the cutest by far, and she has a sensibility but some chutzpah as well. I totally dig her style. We’ll see how far she goes in The Apprentice. I do hope she makes it towards the end. I still haven’t chosen a guy to win. Last year I had thought it would be Bill and…damn, her name escapes me…ahh Amy, but that wasn’t it. It was Bill and Kwame.

It’s harder to choose a guy this year b/c they dont seem to be profiling them as much as the women. I think in a couple of more weeks I will be able to tell.

But for now….Let’s GO ELIZABETH! DON’T GET FIRED!

Envy, with Jack Black and Ben Stiller was perhaps one of those movies that I thought would be funny as hell, but turned out to be a bore.

I could barely watch all of it. I mean it had a decent premise, Ben was jealous of Jack b/c he had the opportunity to start the company together but opted out, and he watched Jack’s character rake in millions on a product called VaPOOrize that made dog poo disappear.

I can’t even bring myself to talk about this movie. Yes it was THAT bad.

Ben Stiller…funny.
Jack Black…funny.

Envy…not funny.

Watching Paycheck with Ben Afleck and Uma Thurman was kind of fun to watch. I say kind of because a lot of it was just lame to watch. I mean its a movie about this guy who is a reverse engineer. We are supposed to believe that he’s the best in his field since it’s never said and he apparently works alone when doing these jobs. Then afterwards his clients erase his memory form when he worked for them. Ok, I’ll bite.

He then goes to work for his friend at some big job, and then upon his return to the real world, he leaves himself these clues so that he could figure out what he’s supposed to about why there are people trying to kill him.

From there it just goes from lame to lamer to lamest.

You can watch it for great background noise, but not entertainment value.

Finally! FINALLY! Finally Stacie was fired. I must admit though, I was surprised at how they did it though. Everyone said she was schizo basically and so Trump got a consensus. This was weird. But pretty effective since she got fired.

Tonights contest I thought was poorly done though, I mean, a buzz index? Who generates the most buzz? I mean, shit, its so objective you know? So the girls got Mike Piazza. BFD. Seriosuly, the people didnt look like they cared b/c there really wasn’t anyone there. Did you notice how the camera panned once to the full crowd and then just had tight shots? That’s because no one was there!

Same thing goes for the guys and their circus idea. But theirs looked more fun and engaging. Oh well.

Tonights episode didn’t really get me all riled up like last weeks, and I hope that future episodes will be better. I mean, every single episode last year totally engaged me, but tonights left me wanting something. Maybe it was b/c you couldnt really qualify the episode with numbers. It was just opinion. I mean if they measured the number of people that filled out surveys or even just counted the number of people then I would have been satisfied. But nay. No qualifier whatsoever.

I wonder who’ll win though. I don’t even know who to root for. I was originally shooting for Bradford, but that dumbass got fired. I’d really like to have Ivana, but she’s pretty lame as well, but I will root for a fellow asian in hopes that she won’t get too flustered in any future projects and stops being a pushover. Go Ivana! GO!

No one on the guys team has really struck me as a good leader, but that kid does have some balls on him which makes him a contender. But I wouldnt be surprised to see him fail when he leads the team. We’ll see.

I’ll have a better understanding of who I want to win in about 3 more episodes I’d say.

Along the theme of lame movies, comes this doozy.

Johnson Family Vacation…wtf!? The only reason I watched this crap was because my brother wanted to rent it. He thought it was the camping movie or bbq movie with Anthony Anderson, which I heard was ok. I couldn’t even watch this movie the whole way through. It started out lame and then went to super-duper lame. I was just shouting my head off b/c it was so lame. It tried to be funny with all these sight gags, but it never really pulls it off. Peeing in a cup? Give it up. Throwing said cup of pee out the window and hitting a cop…puh-leez!

Lame, lamer, lamest.

Secret Window with Johnny Depp was one heckuva movie! A real mind bender. I didn’t expect it but there it was! Maybe thats why they call it a plot twist.

I wi sh I could write a great review for this without giving away anything. The way the character was developed was really good with the way he and his wife were going through a divorce and how the new boyfriend was such an ass. But that totally kept me on Mort’s (Johnny Depp) side.

Man I’m too tired to keep writing about this movie. It defintieyl does get trippy towards the end though.

I finally got around to watching Hell Boy last night. It was a pretty good movie I must say. When it had first come out in the theatres, it was one of those movies that just looked lame, but turned out to be good.

I really liked the character development, and oddly enough, as long as the movie was, I wish it was longer and had some more stuff in it. Some of the action sequences just seemed too short for my tastes. I think that the storyline between Hell Boy and Liz was pretty cute. Selma Blair is cute for that matter. One thing I didnt understand was how was it that when she turned into the blue flame thinger, how come everything around her burned but her clothes didnt? Maybe thats just wishful thinking on my part, b/c I’d like to her nekkid.

Overall though I really enjoyed this film. I suggest anyone else to if you’d like to watch an action film with some heart. And if you buy the 2 disc set, damn, yer in for a long haul. That 2nd disc is packed with stuff. Mainly a documentary of the film. So you see behind the scenes of them filming. It’s pretty interesting but dang, there is a lot of it.

It was definitely cool to see how they designed the monsters and hell boy. The clay modeling and the cgi was really sweet to watch.

Pulp Fiction….what an awesome freegin movie! Every time I watch it, I fall in love with it all over again. With awesome dialogue such as…

“get the gimp”

“pig are filthy animals”
“bacons good, pork chops…good”

“Shit, you sendin’ The Wolf?” That’s all you had to say!”

“Say what again motherf*^cker!”

‘which one’s your wallet?
“the one that says bad motherf*&cker”

The imagery of the movie and the out of order sequencing gives it a lot of character. But overall its the storytelling and the way we essentially root for the bad guys, but there really isn’t any bad guys.

This movies gets 4 out of 5. It could’ve gotten a 5 but there is too much cussing, but then again, if there wasn’t that much cussing, it wouldnt be that great.

Watching this documentary by Michael Moore definitely threw more fire on my dislike for Bush and what he has done so far. The way that Bush handled the initial crisis, by just sitting there and reading to the kids and not really doing much of anything and profiting from everything that happened b/c of his involvement with various companies that were contracted during the war, really made me hate him. But what can you do? Really. What can you do?

This really made it seem like Bush is a puppet, in the true sense of the word because of how he really doesn’t know what to do or what to say unless someone else says tells him what to do.

I can go on and on and on but everyone should really watch this.

I would also recommend watching his other doc. Bowling for Columbine, that talks about gun control laws. Definitely something to watch, especially when looking at the stats across the world. Personally I want stricter gun control laws. I really hate it when getting into a bar fight or something and be worried that the other guy will pull a gun on me. Whatever happened to the good ol’ days when they’d bust a bottle over your head or a pool cue?
